🧵 Materials Needed
Here are all the materials you’ll need 🌸
Yarn: (weight 4, acrylic) Green, White, Red, Yellow, Lavender, Pink, Blue ; you may use as many colors as you like, for the gift boxes and other decorations, this is just what I used for my project.
Crochet Hook : 3.5 mm
Craft wire (for the candy canes)
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Craft Glue
Darning needle
📚 Abbreviations Used (US term)
ch – chain
mr – magic ring
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
slst – slip stitch
inc – increase (2 single crochets in one stitch)
dec – decrease
BLO – Back Loop Only
🎄 Step-by-Step Instructions
🎁Gift Boxes
Box
R1: 4 sc in magic ring, slst
R2: ch 1, 4 inc, slst
R3: ch 1, 8 inc, slst
R4: ch 1, {1 inc, 2 sc, 1 inc, ch 2} x 4, slst (make the stitches of this round a bit loose)
R5: ch 1, make 20 sc in the back loops skipping over the chains (you normally do only one back loop but there's another loop just under the back loop so insert the crochet hook into both of them then do a sc. This makes that 90° edge of the box. You have to do this for just this round), slst
R6-9: ch 1, 20 sc, slst
Fasten off and weave in the ends with a darning needle
Lid
R1: 5 sc in magic ring, slst
R2: ch 1, 5 inc, slst
R3: ch 1, 10 inc, slst
R4: ch 1, {1 inc, 2 sc, 1 inc, ch 2} x 4, slst (make the stitches of this round a bit loose)
R5: ch 1, make 24 sc in both back loops just as we did for the box, slst
R6: ch 1, 24 sc, slst and fasten off
Weave in the ends with a darning needle.
To create the horizontal striped gift boxes, simply switch your yarn color between rounds when you make the slip stitch, this gives the box its cute, layered stripe effect 🎁✨ Once the box is complete, take a medium-length strand of yarn and wrap it around the center, tying it into a neat little bow to finish the look.
⭐Star (Yellow)
Make a mr, {1 sc, 1 ch, 1 dc, ch2, sc on dc(picot), ch 1} repeat 5 times, slst in the 1st sc. Pull the yarn to tighten the magic ring.
Make two star pieces, then place them wrong sides together. Carefully sew around the edges to join them. Once you’ve gone all the way around, secure the yarn with a tight knot and trim the excess.
Colorful Balls🟣🔵🟡
R1: 6 sc in mr, slst
R2-3: ch 1, 6 sc , slst
Using a darning needle, sew the opening closed. Make sure to leave a small yarn tail, you’ll need it later when attaching the piece to the tree.
