Today I’m excited to share a sweet little tutorial on how to make coquette heart coasters. They are cute, simple, and perfect for adding a handmade touch to your space.
In this project, we’ll be creating an absolutely adorable set of heart coasters that are beginner friendly and fun to crochet. Whether you are new to crochet or just looking for a quick and satisfying project, this one is perfect.

🧵 Materials Needed

Here are all the materials you’ll need 🌸

  • Yarn: 100% acrylic, weight 4 yarn, use one light one dark color

  • Crochet Hook : 4 mm 

  • Scissors

  • Stitch Markers (optional)

📚 Abbreviations Used (US Term)

  • ch – chain

  • sc – single crochet

  • mr – magic ring

  • st – stitch

  • slst – slip stitch

  • hdc – half double crochet

  • dc – double crochet

  • dc inc – double crochet increase (2 double crochets in one stitch)

  • extended sc – extended single crochet

Pattern Notes
  • ( ) – indicates the number of stitches worked into the same stitch
  • { } – indicates the set of stitches to be repeated

💕 Step-by-Step Instructions

Heart

Start with a magic ring (mr)

Note: I use an extended single crochet as a substitute for a double crochet, but you can use ch 3 instead if you prefer.

Round 1:
extended sc, make 11 dc into the ring, sl st to join.

Round 2:
extended sc, 1 dc in the same stitch, then 11 dc increases, sl st.

Round 3:
extended sc, 1 dc inc, then repeat {1 dc, 1 dc inc} 11 times, sl st.

Round 4:
ch 1, 1 sc, (1 hdc, 1 dc), 5 dc inc, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 4 sc, 1 hdc, 1 dc, (3 dc) in next st, 1 dc, 1 hdc, 4 sc, 2 hdc, 2 dc, 5 dc inc, (1 dc, 1 hdc), 1 sc, sl st.

Cut the yarn and fasten off.

Frill Border (change color)

Base round:
Work 1 sc in every stitch.
At the point of the heart where you have 3 dc together, place 3 sc in the middle dc.

Frill pattern:
Repeat the following around the heart:
{(sl st, 1 sc, 1 hdc), (2 dc), (1 hdc, 1 sc, sl st)}

🎀 Final touches

Decorate your finished coasters with cute bows to really bring out that soft, coquette vibe. Adding bows gives the project an extra touch of charm and makes it look even more delicate and aesthetic. You can stitch them on, glue them, or even crochet tiny bows to match your piece perfectly.
